Week 45 - Indigo Moon Holistics

Two lovely people I know, Jo and Georgina, have just taken their online business to a new level this week by opening a beautiful shop in Tunsgate, Guildford.

They asked me to take some product and people photos at their opening ceremony.

I knew very little about crystals before meeting but Jo and Georgina but they are so passionate about the healing and restorative properties and the different effects of each type of crystal that I will definitely be exploring their products further.

And even if the idea of crystal therapies is foreign to you, Jo and Georgina make some stunningly beautiful gemstone jewellery which makes ideal gifts for your nearest and dearest – and yourself!

It is a gorgeous place and so worth a visit – and they are very generous with their time if you have any questions or need a little guidance on your crystal purchases.

Week 46 - Autumn

Being a lifelong sun worshipper I always feel a little disappointed when the clocks go back, the days get shorter and the central heating has to go on.

It seems a long time from here until Spring!

But on the plus side autumn brings the most dazzling array of colour to cheer us up.

The lush green countryside suddenly turns into glorious shades of yellows, oranges and reds. And I do love colour!

Also the cooler damp days bring forth great displays of fungi in many different shapes, sizes and colours.

And on a sunny day the reflections of autumn colours in a still lake are stunning.

Week 47 - Sailor and Dresses

This is my great niece, Sailor. A very cute little girl with a very modern name. And like most little girls today Sailor will usually be found in casual clothes like leggings and tops.

Clothes that are perfect for crawling around and exploring.

Clothes that are easy to wash and wear.

Clothes that won’t be scarred by the magnetic muck and stains babies and toddlers seem to so easily attract.

But these gorgeous dresses were made by my sister over 30 years ago for Sailor’s mum, my niece Emma.

They still look so beautiful we just couldn’t resist a little photoshoot to show them off.

Sailor was a little bemused by the whole process and probably quite relieved to get back into her usual garb.

But Emma and I had fun!!

Week 48 - The Uncanny Home by Lucy Bevin

This week my images come from an exhibition – “Alt-terior” - recently held at the James Hockey Gallery at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham.

The exhibition included work from 14 artists created from the artists’ own experiences, both imagined and actual, during a time unlike anything most have lived through before.

I feature the work of Lucy Bevin, whose presentation – The Uncanny Home (Two Walls Left Standing) – is part of the final piece created in attaining her MA in Fine Art at the University.

Lucy says…

“My current work incorporates film, sculpture, drawing and installation.”

“The work explores our relationship and emotional response to the rooms, objects, events and memory of place and the concept of home.”

“It examines the way in which the function of the home can change due to its temporal nature and fragile boundaries and also how the house as object becomes a part of self and self a part of the object. A second skin.”

“The unending quality of the home allows it a certain potency because of the accumulated histories of its inhabitants whose traces are left within its walls.”

“My piece is extracted from a room installation, this was an entirely enclosed interior space constructed for my final show, the room was demolished with only two walls left and they became my piece for Alt-terior.
